New National Stadium Budapest
A state-of-the-art stadium of the highest UEFA category is being built in Budapest for the European Football Championship in 2020.
The new Puskás Ferenc Stadium will have eleven floors with space for around 68,000 spectators and will meet the requirements of the highest UEFA category 4. In addition to hosting three group matches and an eighth-final of the European Championship 2020, UEFA has now also approved it for future Champions League and European League matches, including finals. However, not only football, but also 20 other sports will be able to be played here. By supplying approx. 15,000 m3 of Ytong bricks and around 5,000 m3 of multipor insulation material, Xella Hungary is making a significant contribution to the construction of the historic stadium. The multipor material is used, among other things, for ceiling insulation in the VIP and players' areas. The historic National Stadium, built in 1953 and demolished in 2016, will be rebuilt according to a design by the Hungarian architect György Skardelli. It is scheduled for completion in 2019.
