Gračanica in Bosnia-Herzegovina gets a makeover

Traditional red bricks make way for modern AAC blocks in Gračanica's new buildings. Learn how Ytong is transforming the city's skyline and improving living experiences.

10 June, 2024

Gračanica is a town in the northeastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the Tuzla Canton. This area was traditionally dominated by red brick products and had also a local brick factory. But times are changing. In recent months, construction projects have begun to whiten the city's image, as major construction projects are being built with autoclaved aerated concrete. Sustainable features like good thermal insulation, faster construction times and technical support provided by Ytong BH are the main reasons that made the investors decide to build with Ytong materials. We briefly introduce the projects.

“LUKE”: better living in Gračanica

The first building is “Luke”, a residual building in an excellent location in Gračanica with superb architectural and technical details, with the use of the highest quality materials and system solutions. Xella delivered Ytong blocks for external walls and also for partition walls. The building is planned to be finished in May 2025.

“MALTA”: living quietly

The second residual building named “Malta”, is situated in a quiet area, and provides all the comfort of living and easy access to all important facilities in the city. Xella also delivered Ytong blocks for external walls and also for partition walls. "Malta" is planned to be finished in January 2026.

Both buildings are from the investor Zeka comerc d.o.o. Gračanica.

‘‘DŽAMBO‘‘: Combining residual and commercial requirements

Xella also provides the material for the new commercial and residual building called ‘‘DŽAMBO‘‘ in Gračanica. Max Gradnja is the investor, and they decided to use AAC Ytong for external walls and internally for partition walls. It's planned to be finished in September 2025.

"We are very proud that Xella products were chosen for the construction, as the company is staffed by experienced personnel who work in the construction and design of various types for many years”, Almir Hadziabdic, sales representative at Xella in Bosnia-Herzegovina, says.

Let's see how the city's image will continue to change in the years to come.
