Building in the energy crisis: certified and energy-efficient housing in Italy

In the Italian province of Turin, a new residential complex is being built that achieves Class A energy certification. This was achieved with the help of sustainable AAC systems.

The greater the uncertainty on the energy market, the more important energy-efficient housing becomes. Energy efficiency is also the top priority in the construction of the residential complex in the municipality of Venaria Reale in the Italian province of Turin. 73 apartments distributed over three buildings are to be built here.

Energy efficient with Ytong and Multipor

To ensure the energy efficiency of the entire residential complex, the client Cooperativa Abitare In opted for the autoclaved aerated concrete systems from Ytong and Multipor. Ytong Climagold blocks and Multipor panels are used for the exterior walls. The installation is simple, as the large-sized blocks are easy to install, cut to size and adaptable at any time. Sound-insulating Ytong solutions were used for the partition walls between the different residential units.

The blocks were bonded with Ytong mortar. A reinforced base coat of Multipor mortar was used for the base plaster. The autoclaved aerated concrete systems used are thus economical due to a shortened construction time, and are environmentally friendly and sustainable. They thus meet all modern building standards.

While the first building with 21 apartments was completed in September 2022, the other two buildings with 36 and 16 units respectively are still under construction. Work on the buildings will be completed in 2023.
