What we mean by value-based corporate and leadership culture at Xella
As an employer of more than 7,000 employees in 25 countries, we at Xella take responsibility for our people. We rely on our employees and the regions in which we operate. In all aspects, we strive to be an attractive and reliable employer. That's why we focus on a value-based corporate and leadership culture. But what does this mean?
Internationality and diversity
With its diverse staff, Xella is a very dynamic company that is constantly developing and always wants to improve. “We have a nice size, we're big enough to really achieve things and make a difference, but also small enough that it's very apolitical, so it' still familial,” is how Dr. Michael Leicht, Chief Digital Officer and Head of Human Resources at Xella, describes it.
All employees use Xella's corporate values as a guide for their daily actions in this international and diverse environment – and they form the basis of our mission statement and our binding Code of Conduct. “Values and culture in the company do not result from saying, ‘This is how I want it to be.’ Every manager must be a role model in the points that are important to the company and to him or her,” says Michael Leicht.
The following three points are particularly important:
Dialog, openness, and appreciation
We treat ourselves and others with appreciation and respect. An open exchange means respecting individual and cultural differences and being open to change. Michael Leicht: “It is important to treat each other well, to be open to new ideas and to engage in dialog with colleagues. We don't want to work in silos, we want to work together and that's the only way we can improve! And honestly, that's also the only way it's really fun."
Responsibility and responsibilities
Assigning responsibility requires trust. Taking responsibility means standing up for your actions. As a company, we also stand behind what we do and say. "The beauty of taking responsibility is that it allows us to make a difference. And it's also fun to take responsibility and be accountable for what you do," Leicht says.
Professionalism
Xella is a company with the highest standards that aims to create sustainable value and achieve excellent economic results. A willingness to perform, initiative and innovation are demanded and encouraged at our company. “We enjoy improving things, moving things forward and changing things,” says Leicht.
At our company, employees should have a certain curiosity, enjoy the task at hand and be willing to keep adapting to something new. “For us, it's not about managing the status quo. There are always new challenges waiting for everyone,” Leicht adds.
