With immediate effect, Multipor will become climate neutral: The CO2 emissions currently generated during production, raw material processing, packaging, logistics and disposal will be offset voluntarily in cooperation with ClimatePartner through the purchase of CO2 certificates. For this purpose, we have selected two certified climate protection projects in Europe that make an important contribution to fighting global warming.
Climate protection with wind energy in Bulgaria
The first project is the wind park in the municipality of Kavarna in Bulgaria. Energy from wind is generated without fossil fuels and is therefore considered emission-free. But the wind park also contributes to the economic revitalization and sustainable development of the region. The wind turbines were built at a sufficient distance during the construction of the park so that local farmers can continue to farm the land. At the same time, the wind park has no impact on bird habitats in the region.
Moreover, thanks to the project funding, additional programs in the areas of health, education, culture, environmental protection, and sports can be supported each year. The project therefore not only serves climate protection, but also social interaction in the region.
Moor for climate protection in Lichtenau
Peatlands can store enormous amounts of CO2. That is why we are supporting the rewetting and renaturation of the Eselsbett, Schwarzes Bruch and Sauberbachtal Bühlheim peatlands in Lichtenau in the Egge Mountains (NRW). They had been formed over the past 10,000 years by high precipitation and damming soils. But since peat cutting in the 19th century, they have been permanently damaged.
With the help of the removal of woody plants and the subsequent closure of drainage ditches and drainage swales with wooden dams, water evaporation and runoff are restricted and the conditions for the renaturation of the peatlands are greatly improved.
However, since the initiative is not suitable for CO2 offsetting, this is done entirely through one of the certified forest conservation projects in Brazil or Colombia. For every ton of CO2 compensated there, a subsidy amount flows into the restoration of the peatlands.
Multipor is the green insulation brand
By offsetting, we are making a further contribution to doing justice to Multipor as a brand for ecological and mineral-based insulating materials. Because thinking and acting ecologically is not a new trend for us but is firmly anchored in our company.
Multipor is characterized by non-combustibility, vapor permeability and capillary activity. Another feature is 100 percent recyclability thanks to the use of exclusively mineral components. They do not contain fibers or other harmful substances. This makes the insulation boards a sustainable and intelligent choice for all areas of application from basement to roof - in new buildings as well as in old buildings, in residential construction as well as in commercial and industrial construction.
