Employee well-being is more than a nice-to-have. It is a business driver, and mental health is an integral part of Xella's sustainability strategy. That’s why we expand group-wide programs and leadership trainings, while also supporting teams locally with tailored offers.
As Wiedya Debipersad, Xella’s Head of HR for the NWE region and Head of People Development & Transformations, puts it: "Sustainable performance is only possible when people have the space to recharge, set boundaries, and take care of themselves."
Country-specific approaches
Because the needs of employees differ from country to country, local initiatives complement the group-wide strategy:
- In Poland, Xella completed nine Health Prevention Days across the headquarters and all eight plants, focusing this year on the pillar of relationships under the motto “How to get along despite differences,” with workshops highlighting cooperation, respect, and inclusion as key to well-being.
- In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, online psychological therapy is available for all employees.
- In the Czech Republic, Xella employees in Hrušovany and Horní Počaply plant promoted mental and physical well-being on Safety days: through yoga sessions, physiotherapy exercises, and joint cycling tours, combining relaxation, fitness, and team spirit.
- In Belgium, Xella teams joined a running event for the second time this year, combining teamwork, mental health, charity support, and shared fun beyond the workplace.
- In Germany, the partnership with pme family service supports employees in any life situations: from care solutions for children and relatives to crisis counseling and health prevention.
- In Italy, a Xella team joined a volleyball match together, combining health and having fun together.
- In the Netherlands, mental health is an integral part of Safety Day. All managers are trained to recognize early signs of mental health challenges and to address them in the right way.
