From a landmarked guesthouse to a modern residential complex
Ytong and Hebel AAC consists of natural materials, promotes the natural indoor climate and can be returned to the production cycle as a raw material. These characteristics make it particularly sustainable – an aspect that becomes increasingly important also in the construction industry. Sustainability was also a key factor for the rededication of the historic “Het Nieuwe Huis”.
Therefore, the choice was made for Ytong and Hebel elements for the repositioning of the house in Hombeek (Belgium), built in 1830. The facade view of the historic building was retained, while the wall elements and roof slabs were completely replaced by a construction made of Ytong and Hebel. For the owner Kristof Lombaerts, there were several arguments for the use of Ytong and Hebel: In addition to the simple processing on site, Xella non-flammable AAC products have very good insulating properties and are therefore extremely energy-efficient.
Sustainability is part of the Xella DNA. In addition to manufacturing Xella products from natural materials, we have already developed processes for recycling our products. This reduces waste for our customers and conserves our planet's natural resources.
