New opening of the Silka plant in Teodory
Since Xella Polska took over the plant in Teodory, it has been constantly modernized. Eight autoclaves were replaced, for which a special hall was built. Also the press and the system of curing cars were upgraded. Now, in only a few months’ time, the plant underwent extensive maintenance and modernisation works of the entire infrastructure. On April 29, 2019, Teodory celebrated the re-opening with an Open Day.
What is the most important the safety environment in the plant was improved by implementing advanced systems, e.g. machine work areas were secured by fencing and the key exchange system was implemented. Furthermore, one of the lean manufacturing tools – 5S, associated with better organisation of workstations, spare parts storages, was successfully introduced, which translates into already visible greater efficiency and safety at work. What else is new: The plants’ buildings were renovated and their energy efficiency was increased through comprehensive thermal modernization and window replacement. Also, the site’s area was revitalized, which involved the replacement of internal roads and stock yards pavement. Employees proactively participated in the revitalization and modernization of their plant by contributing to extending the safety systems, renovating the social and office spaces to increase the comfort of work and creating new outdoor areas around the buildings.
Since April 1, the plant works in a 3-shift system. Only three days later the plant achieved the best result in its history: Teodory produced 432 m3 net of Silka blocks (not only autoclaved, but also packed).
