Towering high with Ursa insulation

A new “giant” will soon define the skyline of the Polish capital. The Varso Tower, Varso is Latin for Warsaw, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2021. With 53 floors and a height of 310 meters, it will be the tallest building in Poland and among the tallest buildings in the European Union. In Europe, the ranking of the tallest skyscrapers is headed by the Shard Tower in London, while Varso will occupy the fifth position.

21 September, 2021

The new skyscraper will be the centerpiece of Warsaw's business district and, at the same time, a tourist icon of the city, inviting visitors to linger with its large observation deck and a must-see for anyone who wants a bird's eye view of the capital and its metropolitan region.

With its excellent thermal and acoustic insulation solutions, URSA was able to prevail in the bidding process of real estate developer HB Reavis: In addition to a strong commitment to energy efficiency aimed at saving energy and pollutant emissions, the developers also wanted to focus on the acoustic comfort of each and every one of the offices that will form part of the modern building. To this end, they used more than 30,000 m2 of URSA SILENTIO 38 to insulate the entire interior partitions of the building. This insulation material comes in the form of glass mineral wool panels, which stand for high thermal performance (λ D = 0.038 W / mK), high sound absorption coefficients, as well as fire safety.

As with all buildings with these properties, safety was also an aspect appreciated by the clients: URSA SILENTIO is non-combustible and has fire behavior class A1.

The high level of insulation helps Varso to obtain the BREEAM certification “Outstanding”, becoming the first building of this size in Poland to achieve it. This demanding seal, which measures the sustainability of buildings, will also evaluate the other technologies used to reduce electricity and water consumption and maintain indoor air quality.

About URSA insulation
The high-performance insulation materials from URSA guarantee excellent insulation quality for a diverse range of uses. They lower building energy demand, have an extremely long life, are easy to work with, and are in large part made from recycled materials.
