Panoramic views over Medienhafen
From the 17th floor, the rooftop of OFFICEHOME Rise offers unobstructed views over Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen. Behind the striking architecture lies a high-performance flat roof system designed to meet demanding requirements for sustainability, safety, and cost efficiency while providing space for modern design.
Why Multipor?
For roof insulation, PANDION, the client, chose Xella’s load-bearing, non-combustible Multipor flat roof insulation. These mineral panels of the TOProof type, provide reliable load-bearing capacity, from strip foundations for technical equipment to the green, walkable rooftop terrace. A total of 230 m³ of TOProof insulation was installed in the six-story building section.
Jacob Kowol, Advisor Technical Sales Support at Xella explains: “TOProof panels are highly stable, load-bearing, and non-combustible. They are fully mineral, free of harmful substances and fibers, and certified for environmental safety. With thermal conductivity of λ = 0,045 W/(mK), they significantly improve the building’s energy performance.”
Multifunctional roof design
The roof serves multiple functions: housing technical equipment, supporting an extensive green retention roof, and providing a rooftop terrace for employees. The structure must withstand high point loads, area loads from vegetation, and changing weather conditions, without compromising safety.
Planning and installation
Xella’s application engineering team created detailed slope plans, optimized panel layouts, and programmed precise, millimeter-accurate cuts. Wind load calculations ensured planning and execution reliability for all parties involved.
Roofers from Gessner Bedachungen GmbH installed the panels tightly in a bonded pattern. Custom cuts for parapets and edges were easily adapted, and uneven surfaces were leveled with sanding boards. The installation was completed with a two-layer bituminous waterproofing system, including root-resistant protection for the technical and green areas.
Looking ahead
Since construction began in 2022, the complex has steadily risen in Düsseldorf’s skyline. By autumn 2025, companies will move into flexible office spaces. With its multifunctional rooftop, sustainable Multipor insulation, and carefully planned overall concept, OFFICEHOME Rise sets new standards for modern, future-ready work environments.
