Xella Sustainability Report is coming soon

Mark your calendars for April 22, 2021. We will publish our new Sustainability Report.

15 April, 2021

ESG is not a new topic or trend for us. For decades, Xella stood for sustainable and innovative construction and insulation materials that make a significant contribution to the energy efficiency of buildings. Our products, manufacturing processes, and actions should always meet the highest environmental, social, and governance standards. This is what we stand for and this is how we are measured. In our voluntary sustainability report, we report on our ESG strategy and targets and make our actions transparent and measurable.

Environmental and climate protection

Manufacturing our products requires energy and releases CO2. To keep the impact on climate and environment as low as possible, we have set the target to reduce our CO2 intensity (Scope 1 and 2) by 30% until 2030 (base year 2019). We were already able to reduce our CO2 intensity by 4% in 2020 compared to the previous year. We are also committed to conserving natural resources through an active circular economy. For our URSA mineral wool, we already use 72% internally reprocessed and externally recycled glass. We report on our roadmap for achieving our environmental and climate targets in our new sustainability report.

Social responsibility

As an employer in more than 25 countries, we bear responsibility for our employees. Occupational safety is always our top priority. We need well-trained and experienced employees to manufacture our products and provide the best possible service to our customers. That is why we invest in their training and further education and in the satisfaction of our employees. In addition, diversity in our workforce is needed to be successful as a company. We don't stop at 20% female employees - read more about our diversity, employee development and occupational safety targets in the upcoming sustainability report.

Governance

We also bear responsibility for our suppliers, customers and the society in which we operate. Our actions are guided by our corporate values and our Code of Conduct. We promote the regions in which we operate. 80% of our input materials are sourced locally, meaning from the country in which we operate.

On April 22, 2021, you can learn even more about our sustainability ambitions, targets, and projects. Xella – measurably sustainable.
