Let’s plant pines campaign: 3,000 new trees

In April, a unique environmental action by Xella Poland took place at the Ostrołęka Forest Division. The employees from the Ostrołeka plant, from the Warsaw headquarters, and their families joined forces to plant as many as 3,000 pine seedlings together.

'I am happy that an exceptional number of volunteers, united by the common idea of caring for the environment and the future of generations to come, have taken part in our campaign,' said Beata Molska, Head of HR & Social Responsibility at Xella Polska, at the start of the event.

Before starting the work, the participants received professional instructions from the Forest Inspectorate staff. We ensured the safety of our staff and volunteers. Before we started planting, we received full-scale training on the equipment, planting techniques and rules of forest works,' emphasised Łukasz Zakrzewski, Regional Occupational Health and Fire Safety Specialist at Xella Polska. He added that the Xella's values, such as the “Safety First” principle, were fully implemented, as every participant was provided with personal protective equipment, including vest and gloves.

For us, sustainability is not just a slogan

The pine tree planting campaign is not just a one-off event, but part of Xella Polska's long-term commitment to sustainability. 'This is not our first collaboration with the Ostrołęka Forest Division. We have already planted a thousand oak trees together. Forests play a key role in maintaining the climate balance, they retain moisture, regulate temperature, clean the air and absorb CO₂. They also provide shelter for many species and are important for our health and well-being,' reminds Beata Molska. "I would like to thank all the volunteers for their commitment. See you next year, as we are already planning another event with the Ostrołęka Forest Division!"

In addition to making an ecological contribution, the activity also offered an opportunity for the participants to spend time outdoors and get to know each other better outside their jobs. Xella Polska plans to continue similar activities, combining caring for nature with building relationships among the employees. To paraphrase the company slogan: Xella, we cultivate a sustainable world!
