COP26 and Xella: Our contribution to climate protection

In a few days, the world will come together to accelerate action to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change at COP26 in Glasgow. Xella is also very aware of these goals and is contributing to the decarbonization of the construction sector through its activities.

29 October, 2021

Our mission is very clear: We shape energy-efficient, innovative, and sustainable construction, housing and living. We improve the sustainability of buildings throughout their lifecycle and contribute to a low-carbon, circular and humane (construction) economy. All this with a focus on reducing the CO2 footprint as much as possible.

Energy-efficient

To achieve this, we reduce the use of CO2-intensive raw materials, increase the energy efficiency of buildings, expand energy-efficient production processes and technologies, and increase the share of renewable energies.

Resource-efficient

We conserve resources by developing the circularity of our products and continuously improving this. As a producer of building and insulating materials from natural resources, we focus on sustainable procurement of our raw materials.

Sustainable supply chains

Our entire supply chain is characterized by a strong local character, as most of our production sites are in relative proximity to our customers. The same applies to procurement: around 80% of our purchased goods are bought locally - in the country of production.

Focus on innovations

As a solution provider of innovative building and insulating materials, we are continuously developing sustainable and environment friendly concepts. Three quarters of our research investment therefore goes into environmental and climate-related research.

Cross-sector cooperation

As one of many players in the construction industry, we rely on a wide variety of initiatives and partnerships to promote and implement innovations and greater sustainability throughout the construction sector. Because only together can a climate-friendly construction industry be realized.
