Sustainable building: How Xella supports building managers, craftsmen, and architects.

Training for apprentices in Poland, conferences for architects in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, or continuing education on demand in Germany: Xella offers innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient building solutions and therefore sees itself as a partner for building managers and architects to make housing efficient, sustainable, and affordable. What we mean by that.

13 January, 2023

Because no  one is born a master, Xella helps construction apprentices get started in their profession. Even at vocational school, they can practice processing Ytong, Silka, and Multipor in peace, because Xella provides the material to the schools.

But Xella's commitment to supporting construction managers, craftsmen, and architects as a solution provider for building projects goes far beyond this. After all, those who work with Xella can do so at a very early stage of the construction project. We present some of our initiatives.

Example Digital planning

Right now, it's important to build cost-effectively and quickly - in addition to using materials as efficiently as possible, it's more important than ever to plan personnel deployment on the construction site efficiently. The solution: digital planning with the help of Xella's own planning tool blue.sprint. As early as the planning phase, it is possible to assign costs and processing times to all components in the virtual model of the construction project. With this "digital twin", they can retrieve all important parameters and properties in the long term.

When which components are delivered to the construction site is also already recorded in the model. This means less planning effort and therefore lower costs for the customer.
Another advantage is that the service extends from the idea through planning to completion of the building.

Building Companion: Finding partners in construction

The right partner makes cooperation in construction much easier. You just have to find it. Xella's own "Building Companion" search engine helps with this. In Poland, for example: Every month, up to 150 investors use this platform to find the right partner among more than 2,000 construction companies vetted by Xella - free of charge. "In this way, we significantly simplify the acquisition process between builders and construction companies," explains Radu Mâcâială, head of Building Companion. A search mask is used to describe the construction project.

The platform goes beyond "match making." For the realization of the building project, the person responsible for the construction receives a database with expert knowledge explained in an understandable way and a planning tool for the construction. Discounts on building materials are also available.

Further education with the Building Academy in Germany

How do green roofs help protect the climate? Which plaster systems are suitable on masonry made of aerated concrete and sand-lime bricks? How do different construction methods function in ecological comparison, constructive fire protection in residential construction, or digital planning with Blue.sprint? The Xella Construction Academy knows the right answer. It bundles the latest knowledge in the construction industry and makes it available to all interested parties.

To do this, the academy uses on-site events, live webinars, and educational on-demand webinars. The academy also shares various videos on construction topics through its extensive media library. Qualification and certification as an energy consultant or expert for building damage assessment is also possible there. Xella's accumulated expert knowledge and the essence of years of construction experience thus flows into the entire German construction market. Around 10,000 people have already taken advantage of webinars, on-demand offerings, and Studio X events since its launch in July 2021.

Czech Republic: Experts exchange ideas at virtual conference

Xella Czech Republic and Slovakia have developed the "Xella Dialogue" format for their customers. Originating from a classic conference, the format has evolved into a virtual exchange during the Corona pandemic, recorded in Xella's own film studio in Prague. "With our Xella Dialogue, we present Xella products and services to external technical experts and managers in an attractive and understandable way. Our goal is to make it easier for them to plan and realize buildings," says Luděk Suchomel, Marketing Manager at Xella Czech, explaining the successful project.

The target group includes architects and designers, teachers and students of construction schools, construction companies, construction merchants, private investors and the media. "In this way, we have also created a common, new communication channel." Xella thus became a trendsetter in digitization in Czech and Slovakia and a pioneer of online conference broadcasting, especially for B2B customers. In 2022, 240 people joined the conference live. The online contributions from the previous year have since been accessed by 9,200 construction experts.
