The construction site of the future is characterized by mechanized work. The erection of walls will be accelerated and made more efficient by the use of flexible work equipment, thus reducing the physical workload of the workers. Mini cranes are particularly flexible and can be used on many different types of construction sites, and they are becoming increasingly important for assembly work. For this reason, Xella has been using them for some time to make work on the construction site more efficient.
 
Xella Polska offers a total of five types of minicranes. Also available are tower cranes for assembling reinforced Ytong elements and a range of trolleys, including electric trolleys for assembling wall elements. "Xella Polska aims to provide construction companies not only with the best materials, but also to provide them with all the necessary tools and accompanying services, including planning using BIM technology. We have developed a series of new types of mini cranes for the installation of our large-format systems. This year, we launched the Spider mini crane, which was specially designed and produced for us," says Michał Jończyk, Head of Technical Sales and DIY at Xella Polska. With the ability to install Silka Tempo and Ytong Jumbo blocks even just below the ceiling, the custom-built Spider is ideal for the framed structures prevalent in the Polish residential market. The crane folds in and out quickly, has the flexibility to move around the site, and even fits through a standard doorway.

"Given the increasingly dramatic shortage of labor on construction sites, mechanization of masonry work is meeting with a strong response in Poland," explains Jończyk. "The average age of workers is rising because fewer and fewer young people can be attracted to work in the construction industry. Our mini cranes mean a great relief here, as they reduce the physical strain on workers." By the end of 2020, Xella Polska has already produced four such mini cranes. Due to the numerous advantages, production is to be significantly expanded this year.
